    I swear, using wired wax foundation. Placed a super on my strongest hive, a double deep colony, and they had that super drawn and filled within the month. Expected to be capped in the following week.

    Live in south east MI, getting swarms is getting harder and harder.. caught one about 2 weeks ago and seems to bee struggling.. going to give them some sugar water today and see how that goes. I’m a firm believer in not helping them with feedings. 14:45 bees seem to be disappearing year after year.. live in the country, and the farmers are constantly spraying.

    Sorry but your description of Carniolan's do not sound at all like carniolain bees. Cariolan traits should be more winter hardy and use less stores. SO I am not sure where your getting your carniolan bees but it sound to me like they are not sure bred carniolan bees your getting. As for saskatraz, those are just a mutt breed they gave a fancy name too and sell for a premium. It is a complete gimmick, they are so cross bed that they can't stabilize the traits.

    Could the interest in swarming have to do with the strength of queen pheromone? weaker in the smaller colony.

      It’s from humblebee! It’s a little pricey but it was so worth it! My only complaint is about where the sippers meet by your neck for the vail, once the Velcro gets some wear on it, a bee or 2 can sometimes slip thru. It’s very breathable tho and has lots of pockets.

    Very helpful. A best organic practice dear. Im from JAFFNA SRILANKA struggling with bee mites for 3 years since i knew about the mite attack, we dont have any varroa here but very tiny than varoa mite in out apis cerena bees. I can remeber in the off season only in the june starting most of the hive get affected by these mites. some hives stop layung becaususe of no flow and after a period of time if they lay egg the hive is 95% cleared out of brood issues. And im also trying the requenning method it reducing honey any how its give benefits rather than keeping it further in to disaster. Thanks. I like to connect via social medias if possible can i Get your contact please.

      My first thought was maybe she’s getting old since she was a swarm but since her egg laying pattern looks good but her capped brood pattern is what looks bad with those gooey looking cells I’d say EFB it is. I’ve been told that efb is always in a bee hive, it’s not until they become stressed that it pops up. Nutritional stress especially a lack of pollen can cause it too.

    I normally give mine 1 strip of apivar kinda let them grow into the treatment.. that way they never pickup a mite load until I put them out for honey production .. makes big difference in growth and they make more goldenrod

    • @beefitbeekeeping

      I like that thought! Getting rid of mites while they’re small I think is a game changer. This yard in particular is still treatment free since it is our breeding yard, we are treating all of the others but……if we are moving these nice onto pallets to grow……hmmmmmm lots of experimenting to do to see our best approach

      @researcherAmateur 11 днів тому

      That's a sick colony. The queen was laying eggs in every cell but later I see brood diseases and most of the brood is missing.. there's EFB, Sack brood probably more. That's the colony where you throw away the brood frames and restrict it to minimum.. and if you really have some hygienic bees you use those.. but I doubt. If it was here everything would be washed in chlorine and later painted with a propolis tincture with a thick coat. How can you watch that frame in hand and not see the disease on it ? Where is your needle to poke the cells with a small hole on capping ? You want to learn something.. don't you

    I’m a beekeeper and the only way I can collect my honey is when I’m totally drunk. I found that being drunk helps me to not feel any bee stings. For those that are interested in being a drunk beekeeper I recommend insure you have no less than nine strong shots of tequila prior to working your hives.

    Hey do u want any brand new equipment really REALLY cheap? I got deep boxes , some mediums, frames & plastic waxed foundations, screened bottoms w inserts & telescoping top cover with metal cover & inner covers.. basically a double deep hive with a medium +frames & foundations & everything else I listed for $110 + I throw in a excluder, hive tool, & smoker with each hive purchase...it's not homemade equipment, it's dovetail joints on boxes. I can send u pics if interested. I'm just in Ohio 20 min south of Cleveland.

    I liked your video and I loved hearing you say all the things that so many people say in this situation. This is a difficult area for beginners. I just want to help here. I have kept bees for 50 years. Laying workers can fly. They do fly and they will fly. This is simply a fact. Shaking does except one thing . . . . . . it causes the bees to drift into other hives because they have no place else to go. That is a fact. When they go into these other hives, their laying instincts turn off again because of the pheromones in those other hive. There is also some evidence that some of them may be killed off by the other hives. If you don't want to shake (and I don't shake) then best way to fix this problem is to add a frame of open brood. It has to be OPEN brood. Then, later, (like the next day) add the laying worker hivet to another hive with a sheet of newspaper between or you can then try introducing a queen, but introducing a queen at this juncture is a little risky even with a frame of brood and you could lose your queen. I add a frame of unsealed brood and then I add them to another hive with newspaper, and then I split it up again, a couple of weeks later, giving the split a new queen. Laying workers will not cause other hives to become laying worker hives because of the presence of pheromones in those other hives. It is the presence of unsealed brood that turns off laying workers. That is the most important fact. Laying workers? The answer is unsealed brood.

      Yes yes and yes! That is the best way I have found to fix laying workers. It’s when you have other queenless hives in the yard that you really develop a problem. Before you know it, they’re all laying workers 🥲
